Something I played with (like many others in my area) when growing up was the LOGO Basic language with the little turtle that you could give instructions and use to draw things on the screen. This allowed you to learn basic programing, math concepts, and even got me started in sharing code. I just watched this talk and to sum it up. Python 2.6 now includes a turtule library that allows me to relive my childhood in my language of choice as an adult.
